What Are Ombré Brow Tattoo?

Trends in semi-permanent eyebrows: The Ombré Technique

Inspired by the ombre hair trend, ombré brows (or ombré eyebrows) have become a huge trend in semi-permanent makeup for eyebrows. It's a method that gives you the appearance of filled-in, shaded brows with a unique twist: the ombré effect.

The French term for "shaded" is where the word "ombré" gets its name. It starts with a softer color inside the brows and gets darker and bolder as you proceed through the arch. The finished brow is diffuse and soft at the edges, and it has a very natural, powdered appearance. It's an effective way to give brows that definition and depth look.

It's difficult to get the ideal brows every morning. Many of us simply don't have the time necessary to apply the ideal quantity of plucking, color, and shape, much alone to have them as symmetrical as possible.

Thanks to semi-permanent eyebrows, technology has changed the game.

How Much Does Ombré Brow Tattoo Cost?

Semi-Permanent brow tattoos cost will vary depending on the area. In general, you can expect to pay anywhere from $250-$1000 for quality brow tattoo. However, it’s important to keep in mind that this is an investment.

Because the artist’s training requires them to use special skills and is a permanent beauty procedure, it can be pricey. Your artist will use the best products, tools, and technique to ensure a result that you'll love for years because their work will be on your face for the rest of your life.

Who is a Good Candidate for Ombre Brows?

There are many people who can benefit from permanent eyebrow tattoos. This includes people:

  • Someone with sparse eyebrow hair or light-colored natural hair
  • Those who have lost their eyebrows due to illness, hair loss, cancer treatment or injury
  • Anyone who want to save time in their morning routine by not having to fill in their eyebrows every day with an eyebrow pencil or powder

It is 100% customizable and is great for all skin types, allowing the artist to design it to look natural or make up like.

Who Isn’t a Good Candidate for Ombre Brows?

Most people can get powder ombré brows without any contraindications.

However, some pre-existing health conditions can make powder ombré brows impossible, like diabetes, active cancer, pregnancy, a history of keloids, or hypertrophic scarring.

  • At least 3x throughout the day: wash (blot) the area using a damp cotton pad. Blot more if necessary to prevent oil build-up.
  • If the brows become dry / itchy, apply a sheer layer of aftercare cream to the brows with a cotton swab.
  • Keep your hands clean and avoid touching the treated areas. When the area starts to flake, leave it. DO NOT PICK, PEEL, OR PULL ON THE SKIN OR TREATED AREA.
  • Avoid direct sun exposure and tanning beds.
  • Avoid exposing the area to excessive moisture or humidity, such as: facials, swimming in chlorine pools or recreational bodies of water, hot tubs, saunas, steam rooms, and steamy showers.
  • No lotions, ointments, or makeup on the treated area until completely healed.
  • Avoid harsh soaps and chemicals (including skin cleansers, makeup removers, alpha hydroxyl creams, and tooth whitening toothpaste) near the treated area until healed. Mild soap like Cetaphil can be used gently over the area if needed.
  • Avoid direct contact with animals to the treated area.

  • Do not resume any method of eyebrow hair removal or eyebrow tinting for at least 2 weeks.
  • Avoid Retin-A, AHA, glycolic acids, exfoliants, and anti-aging products always (not just during healing) on all micro pigmented areas. These can cause pigments to fade and lighten prematurely.

LONG TERM CARE:

  • Grooming may still be required to keep the shape clean from outside hairs and new hair growth.
  • Use SPF on the brows to protect them from the sun and premature fading.

WHAT TO EXPECT DURING THE HEALING PROCESS: For most, brows will heal within 7-14 days. Estimated timeline below.

  • Day 1 - 3: Brows will look darker and thicker. Do not panic. It is still fresh, and the scabbing process has not started.
  • Day 4 - 7: Brows will begin to scab/flake & may appear patchy.
  • Day 7 - 10: Brows are completely peeled & the color seem very faint/light.
  • Day 11 - 35: Color will start to resurface, darken, & stabilize as your skin regenerates & pushes the pigment to the upper layers of the skin. Brows can take 6 - 8 weeks to show its true color.
